This document will explain how to map LeadGenius fields to Marketo fields, as well as the overwrite logic that we will use when exporting records to Marketo.
When exporting new data to Marketo (Net-New segments), we will create new records in Marketo. When exporting enriched data to Marketo, we will update your existing records in Marketo with updated data. If you have uploaded a CSV for enrichment, we will export that data as new records to your Marketo.
These instructions assume that you have connected your Marketo account to LeadGenius. If you have not already connected your Marketo account to LeadGenius, follow these instructions to do so.
Note: Only fields supported by the REST API will be shown and be mappable to LeadGenius fields. No SOAP-only fields can be used!
Confirming Your Field Mappings
After you have connected Marketo to LeadGenius, you will be brought to the Configure screen. This is where you will choose which Marketo fields correspond to the LeadGenius fields on your lists. You will need to confirm these mappings before you are able to import or export data, to or from Marketo.
On the left, we have the fields that are present on your lists. The right column shows the Marketo fields that will be used for Leads.
The Configure screen also determines how we handle the data being exported back to Marketo from LeadGenius.
- Update Always means that we will always update this field when exporting.
- If Blank means that we will only update that field if it is blank in your Salesforce.
- Never means that we will never update that field.
Data Types and Field Types
When mapping LeadGenius fields to Marketo fields, the data types for those fields must match. If the data types do not match, an error will be displayed and that field will not be exported (the field will be set to Never update) until it is mapped to a Marketo field with the correct data type. For example, the Employee Range field in LeadGenius is a string field. The Num Employees field in Marketo is an integer field. So, Employee Range would have to be mapped to a string field or be left unmapped.
Another way to correct this issue is to have your Marketo Administrator change the data type of the field to match that of the LeadGenius field.
Lead Source & Data Format
Before you confirm your mappings, you will see the option to choose what you would like the Lead Source to be set to for your exported LeadGenius data, and how you would like that to be updated. As above, you can set the Lead Source to Update Always, If Blank, or Never.
Once you have completed filling in your mappings, and Lead Source, click on Update Integration Settings to save your changes.
