Editable Segments is a new feature we recently added that will allow you to perform the following actions:
- Edit criteria and/or data points for an existing segment, prior to launch.
- Launch your new segment, by approving sample data.
- Create a new segment by copying an existing segment.
- Stop work on a segment.
- Archive a stopped segment.
If you would like to give Editable Segments a try, please contact your AM or CSM.
One change that you will notice right off is that the segment cards for any new segments you've created with Editable Segments will have a different appearance.
You will be able to easily see which stage your segments are in, whether you have segments awaiting your approval to be launched. Segments that have already been launched are not available for editing.
Editing A Segment
After clicking on the Edit option in the segment card menu, you will be brought to the segment wizard. You will be able to make any changes needed from within the wizard, same as you did while creating the segment initially.
After editing a segment, the segment is reset, and any existing data present on the segment is discarded. We will restart work gathering sample data for your segment, with your updated specifications.
Reviewing Your Sample data
After we have gathered sample data for your segment, you will have the opportunity to review and either approve the sample data (launching the segment), or you can edit the segment and make further changes.
Again, once a segment is launched, no further edits are permitted. To make further changes to the segment, you can copy the segment to a new segment, and (optionally) stop work on the current segment and archive it.
Copying A Segment
Clicking on the Copy option in the segment card menu will allow you to copy the criteria & data points from an existing segment to a new segment, where you will be able to make changes.
This is useful for cases where you need to make changes to a segment that has already been launched, or you want to create a new segment for a different market (different contact titles or a different industry, for example) but you want to use the same data points as you used on one of your existing segments.
Stopping A Segment
Clicking on the Stop option in the segment card menu allows you to stop work on a particular segment. This is useful for cases where you have made a copy of an existing, launched segment to make changes, and would like work to continue on the edited copy of the segment.
Archiving A Segment
Clicking on the Archive option in the segment card menu allows you to archive a stopped segment. Archiving the segment will move it to the Archived tab on the segment overview, and the segment card will show that the segment is archived. You can only archive stopped segments.
